A lovely vintage crewel piece of an old covered bridge. This one is quite
rustic and wonderful. It dates back to at least the 1940s.
The image is of a red covered bridge surrounded by trees, flowers and even
part of the stream over which the covered bridge sits.
As with crewel pieces, there is a lovely bit of dimension to this picture
because of the thickness of the wool/yarn that was used. Between the subject
matter, the hand stitching and the rustic technique, there is almost a folk art
quality to this piece.
It is framed in wood and covered in glass. Including the frame, the piece
measures 11.5-inches high X 9.5-inches wide. It is about .75-inches deep.
There is a rustic charm about this piece. It is in good condition. Some of the
background is slightly rippled from age and there are a few light age stains on
the background piece, only adding to its vintage appearance.
Would look terrific in a rustic or farmhouse setting.
