Tribal primitive hemp necklace with driftwood, wooden beads and cruelty free
naturally shed feathers: all dyed with plants in ecofriendly ways. It is a
fiber art Gaia statement piece to wear for summer festivals or to have as a
special wall decoration.
The length of the necklace is about 55 cm / 22 inches - Width about 13 cm / 5
This unique necklace is inspired by the amazing feather art of Native
Americans. The creative process started in nature: I was captivated by leaves
of a fiery color (from cotinus , I think). After rolling them in organic cotton
and leaving them for a few months, the footprints were strong and looked like
feathers ... So I added real feathers collected in nature. And to marry air,
earth and water, some driftwood found on a Mediterranean beach came to
complete. Then some linen yarn with wooden beads and tassels have been added as
Round the neck is a double braided hemp large tube which contains a smaller
one holding the pendant: it is very comfortable, light and soft to the skin.
All fibers, beads and feathers are dyed by myself with plant dyes (indigo,
woad, eucalyptus, madder,... ) by eco-friendly methods. This gives earth tones
of rust, beige, gray, with red, blue and brown from feathers. All elements are
natural weathered and distressed with plenty of charming organic patina.
This pendant is great on a black dress or with a boho blouse for outdoor
festivals ... or any other occasions you feel inspired to! No need to be super
outgoing to wear this "statement necklace", in fact it is ideal for the shyer
out there, because the necklace is a conversation starter ;)
When you are not wearing it, it will be beautiful on your wall, as a fiber art
piece, echoing primitive works, respectful of Nature's rhythms, in modern days!
