This image is part of the series Urban City Life!
There is a great story behind my broken glass series. It began with a trip to
Dakar, Senegal where I learned the art of painting on glass through various
African artists. When I returned home, I was eager to begin a new creative
endeavor. After painting on glass for several months, I laid pieces on my
studio floor, and by accident my daughter stepped on a piece! I was shocked,
but looked at the brokenness in a new way. The shards of glass gave me the idea
that we are all broken but can be easily pieced back together through faith and
strength.
Approximate size is 12 x 16.
I use paper, glass, and acrylic paint to create this mixed media work. Shards
of glass are then mounted with a special glass adhesive, creating an abstract
fragmented effect. Each piece is then framed in a shadow box, giving the piece
a clean, simple eclectic design that enhances any decor!
Note: Enjoy this creative risk with me! I break each piece by hand, and it
will break differently every time. This painting will be uniquely yours, so the
fragments will be slightly different than shown in the photos.
