These two pieces of Black Lace appear to be large remnants of larger pieces of
this lace fabric. One is still backed on paper as it was originally presented
prior to use. The piece not on paper measures 36" x 22" , is in good usable
condition but does have an area at the top where it had previously been cut
down 2 1/2" and across 5" and shows a little bit of fraying on one bottom
scallop. The other piece that is still mounted on paper measures 36" x 25", in
good condition excluding one bottom scallop that is missing. The lace is sturdy
and whole except for the edges as noted and exhibits a beautiful floral and
scrolled motif. This came from a large collection of vintage lace dating to the
turn of the 20th c. and from a family whose use of elegant clothing would have
been common.
