Oooohhhhh....ooooooohhhhhhh!!!!!! Dating from the Edwardian era, early 1910's,
I am pleased to present this exquisite antique French metallic lace and lame
boudoir table mat/vanity tray liner/runner featuring four embroidered silk
petite point rose wreath medallions. I love the exquisite, sheer lame ground!
It has been stamped so the texture is like a reptile's skin. The design is an
exotic paisley. The colors of the lame ground are violet purple and shades of
pink/peach. The antique scalloped metallic lace trim with a repeating flower
design is also quite unique and lovely. The teeny, tiny petite pointe roses
wreath medallions are embroidered with silk onto a silk canvas in shades of
purple, blue and green.
You could use as a boudoir vanity tray liner if you wish, as a table mat
and/or runner, or turn it into a pillow front. These metallic doilies are very
difficult to find, especially ones with the lame in such wonderful condition! I
could go on and on about this lame. This really is museum worthy material as
far as I am concerned. It's just beautiful.
The tiny embroidery is in perfect condition as well as is the lame and
metallic lace trim, although the metallic has taken on some patina from age
throughout! There are a few creases that should press out. You might want to
line this with cotton prior to pressing with a cool iron...since there is
metal, you want to protect that from the heat of the cool iron. (A"cool" iron
is actually a warmish iron...it is a term from the old country. You just never
want to use a hot iron on lame. If you have any concern, take it to your local
seamstress or drycleaner and ask them to do it for you.)
This is truly a precious boudoir piece....perfect to finish your bathroom to
place your perfume bottles upon.
Please take a look at my other applique and trim listings, I have other
antique metallic doilies listed and of course, convo me with any questions. Be
sure to combine your purchases for FREE domestic shipping.
