Late 19th C Infant's Gown
Lancaster County, PA
This is a sweet old country infant's gown done in a "double pink" fabric of
the period.
Measurements: 7 inches from shoulder to shoulder across the draw-string neck
opening; 13 inch width from armpit to armpit; 29 inches in length;33 inch width
across the front hem (its widest); sleeves are 4 inches long by 4 inches wide.
The entire piece is hand-sewn is very tiny and deliberate stitches. The cotton
drawstring is original, nothing fancy but plain.
Condition is excellent with no holes, rips or tears. There is one spot on the
underside along the hem (see photo) which looks like the seamstress pricked
herself while working on the gown.
It dates to the last quarter of the 19th C and was purchased at a farm sale in
Lancaster County, PA many years ago.
Please note: Insurance is required for items over $100 which is reflective in
the shipping fee.
